Chorégraphie et musique Hofesh Shechter
Un titre qui sonne comme de bons baisers venus d’outre-Manche : génie de la danse contemporaine, Hofesh Shechter présente sa nouvelle création interprétée par huit jeunes danseurs enflammés du ballet Shechter II.
Avec From England with Love, Hofesh Shechter rend hommage à son pays d’adoption, l’Angleterre. Il partage son admiration pour elle, sans pour autant masquer ses paradoxes et les parties sombres de son Histoire. La vitalité des danseurs du ballet qu’il a créé à destination d’artistes âgés de 18 à 25 ans percute les conventions. Fiévreux, engagés et virtuoses, leur danse puissante, ancrée au sol, fait écho aux préoccupations des jeunes générations. Invité sur les plus grandes scènes internationales, révélé au grand public par le film En corps de Cédric Klapisch, Hofesh Shechter est un artiste complet : il signe également la musique, en revisitant notamment le répertoire du compositeur baroque anglais Purcell.

From England with Love is produced by Hofesh Shechter Company and co-commissioned by Château Rouge, scène conventionnée – Annemasse, Espace 1789, scène conventionnée danse – Saint-Ouen, Scène nationale de Bourg-en-Bresse, Düsseldorf Festival !, Escales Danse, with production support from Théâtre de la Ville Paris, Fondazione I Teatri Reggio Emilia and a production residency at DanceEast, Ipswich. From England with Love premiered on 11 February 2021 at Zuiderstrandtheater in The Hague, The Netherlands, and was originally performed by Nederlands Dans Theater 1. Hofesh Shechter Company gratefully receives support towards the delivery of Shechter II 2024. This includes core funding from John Ellerman Foundation and The Harold Hyam Wingate Foundation and project funding from Jerwood Arts towards Jerwood 🖤 SII – a new Continued Professional Development offer to the dancers.
